Classic Lake Minnetonka

The challenge: To honor the home’s traditional bones while giving the space a renewed, fresh character. “It was really about building in modern touches with updated furnishings and refined fabrics”

Whites and grays found throughout the space create an elegant and pretty air, while the homeowners’ favored lake shades of aqua, turquoise and cerulean were added through accessories and accents providing splashes of color. Patterns are an important link —arabesque, ikat and abstract delight and let the eye travel. The rug is the main character grounding the space while establishing a traditional basis for the rest of the main floor.

Despite the rooms’ strong architectural elements, the effect is fresh and open, While spatial definition exists through arches and built ins, there is visual continuity because of the pattern and color.
